Wizardry Variants Daphne – Grade Up and Adventurer Tags Guide

Beginners Guide to Grade Up and Adventurer Tags
Ву Poopenheimer.
What are Adventurer Tags?
Adventurers start with a level cap of 20 at the ungraded tier. To increase their level tag, you must upgrade their adventurer tags to the next tiers. This is known as Grade Up.
What is Grade Up?
Grade up is the process of increasing your adventurer’s level cap.
How to Grade Up?
You need three things to grade up.
- Tag of the current grade (If you are No Grade, you need No Grade Tag)
- Exam Pass Proof (Also specific to grade)
- Reach your current level cap.

Notes:
- You will first encounter the Grade Up feature upon reaching level 20 with your MC.
- You can get exam pass proof without taking the exam, but it will probably only be via buying with real cash.
- Every character you want to grade up MUST have their own exam pass proof.
Adventurer Tag Tiers
You can spend 2 of a previous tier of tag to upgrade to the next tier. Here are the tag tiers in order.
- No Grade
- Lead
- Bronze
- Iron
- Steel
- Copper
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Mythril
- Adamantite
- Orichalcum

You can find the upgrade menu by pressing the Tag button on any Grade Up Exam request UI:

How to Get Adventurer Tags?
Currently only two ways to get Adventurer Tags:
- Dismiss Adventurers.
- Weekly Adventurer Tag Request.
Dismissing Adventurers
You gain tags by dismissing adventurers. You can do so from the Training Room.

Dismissing adventurers gives a different amount of tags, depending on their type:
- Un-named Adventurers (Human-Pri, etc): 1 No Grade Tag

- Named Adventurers (Chloe, Clarissa, Flut, etc): 2 No Grade Tags.

- Legendary Adventurers (Lanavaille, Adam, etc): 1 No Grade Tag, 1 Iron Tag.

Dismissing adventurers that have already been graded up also refunds you the tags spent to grade them up:

As we can see from the above example, Marianne is a named adventurer, and is level capped at 30, in the Lead grade. She has not graded up to Bronze yet.
- Dismissing her gets us 1 Lead Tag (= 2 No Grade), and 1 No Grade tag.
Since 1 No Grade tag was spent to grade her up to Lead grade, the net tags gained from dismissing her is still only 2 No Grades, or 1 Lead.
You do not gain any more tags by leveling and grade up adventurers before dismissing them, versus dismissing them immediately, regardless of their type.
Adventurer Tags Weekly Request
Every week on Monday JST, you will receive a new Weekly request at the adventurer’s guilds. These Weekly requests will provide tags.
Special Note: It seems like as your MC progresses, you start getting weeklies that offer more tags.
It is not confirmed, but it seems the number of tags increases from 3 No Grade, to 4 No Grade, when your MC has at least 1 class at lvl 40 (and possibly requiring additionally starting another class).
Grade Up Exam Details
Lead Exam

Special Notes:
- The boss will summon additional enemies every few rounds. Save your area-of-effect attacks for when these enemies appear.
- If you have legendary units with Secret Arts abilities, place them in the back middle position to use these abilities effectively.
- The boss is undead. Try to bring undead slayer weapons if possible, or many magic scrolls.
- The boss sometimes skips its turn.
- The boss only has 2 moves, both attacking a single unit on the front row. One is a multi-hit attack, one is a normal hit. These aren’t very dangerous, just heal your units afterward.
Bronze Exam

Special Notes:
- The boss doesn’t summon any additional enemies.
- The boss is weak to wind-element attacks.
- Most enemy groups on the way to the boss can be defeated with Scroll of Rockfall, except for Air Entities. Those require fire-element attacks.
- The boss deals very high damage.
- The Tail Swipe attack hits all units in the front row and might stun them.
- The Jump attack hits one unit in the front row and switches that column’s front and back positions.
- The Buildup attack will be followed by a Stinger attack on the next turn, hitting one column with a chance to cause fear. You should block this attack or take heavy damage.
- The boss doesn’t seem to show an Opening after being blocked (this needs to be confirmed).
- As usual, fill your inventory with healing potions to save magic points on the way to the boss.
