Endless Grades: Pixel Saga – Positioning Guide (Early Game Team)

Positioning 101 + Early Game Team and Heroes Explanation
Ву Mordoc.
Today we are going to learn all you need to know about positioning, so that you can improve your performance in the game!
- 1 = Central front row, this position is the first one to get attacked by the enemy.
- 2 = Bottom front row, this will get attacked after 1.
- 3 = Top front row, this will get attacked after 2.
- 4 = Central backline, this position will be attacked after 3.
- 5 = Bottom backline, this position will be attacked after 4.
- 6 = Top backline, this position will be attacked last!

Notes:
- A lot of enemies have aoe attacks in late game, not only boss, even mobs!
- A lot of hero have random attack skill and/or talents.
Some heroes have class or position specific attack or skill, including buff or effects (ex: Skadi focusing the freeze on priests and Solo using his skill only on the front row).
How to build a team in early game with meta units:
Everyone is free to build the team however they want but, a simple and effective way to build your early game pve/pvp generic team using meta characters (after they all get to +7) is:

1 = Lilian, as the best healer for early game she will be your tank, she can take most of the damage and heal it, being in the central front row she will be focused first, this means her rage bar will fill very fast and she will be able to start healing the team right away. She also provide a very good buff when the hp are under 50% (talent 5) and Silence when defeated (Talent 4).
2 = Evelyn, (or other CC units like Isett) by being here this hero will also fill his/her rage bar very quick, by putting here a CC hero you will have a good chance to inflict CC on the enemy team and gain advantage early during the fight. Evelyn can inflict stun up to 4 enemies with her skill, she can also stun when other heroes use their skill (Talent 3). Even if she’s not a tank she can survive being in the front line thanks to Solo’s shallow grave (if triggered ofc). If she dies too much/too fast you can consider exchanging her position with Solo.
3 = Lilith is a damage reduction character, thanks to her, your party will be able to survive better the early turns of the match (pvp or pve). The skill description is a little bit weird but enemies marked by her will heal your unit when attacking them (if I understood correctly lol). Plus she can heal with her Talent 5. You position her in the front line because you want the enemy to attack her in order to apply even more of her debuff on them (Talent 4).
Alternative to Lilith?
- DMG Reduction: Heidrun and Ines
- CC: Isett and Devyn
- HEAL: Galadriel
4 = Solo, one of the most useful if not the most useful hero in this game, other than providing a debuff for the enemies and some healing, he provides “shallow grave” which makes your heroes basically immortal for 2 turns with Talent 3 and 5. Please notice that this buff only apply when your hero is 30% hp or less, if they get oneshotted while full hp or before they reach 30% the buff will not apply. His talent 5 will apply the buff to the lowest hp hero (or heroes, depending on the rank) so it doesn’t consider the exact % like talent 3. Some strategies involves putting Solo in position 1 to get him killed very fast and trigger his talent 5 but it’s usually not necessary early game.
5 = Delia, this hero can inflict a useful debuff but most importantly she inflict a lot of poison damage, poison is very useful in pretty much every mode but especially against boss with a lot of HP since the damage is based on the target max HP. Since she’s not your main damage dealer usually you can position her in position 5, if necessary since she can’t tank as much as Sophia you can switch her to position 6 to maker her survive longer and provide more damage.
6 = Sophia, unless you started to play the game today you already know that she’s the strongest character for a long part of the game both for pvp and pve. By positioning her here you can make sure that she survive as long as possible, that also mean that she will fill her rage bar slower so, it’s generally a good idea to give her a pet like Diviner or Astrologer to make sure that she skill ASAP. Her skill can target up to 3 enemies and provides true dmg, she can convert enemies skill into single target (talent 2), self healing (talent 3), more damage on talent 1 and 4 and even more true damage on talent 5 (that one is OP). Once her rank is high enough you can switch her position to the front line to make sure that she skill faster since she becomes quite tanky (can still get oneshotted in pvp by other Sophia and mob/boss in late game, be careful!).
Important!
As mentioned, this is a generic early-game team if you don’t want to think too much. However, please consider that one of the cool parts of this game is figuring out team composition and positioning, so do your best to try different things that work for you based on your progress in the game! It will be super important for your late-game progress too.
